Exhibition: January 18 to February 19, 2011
Morono Kiang Gallery presents Edifice Cache, Curated by
Shervin Shahbazi and Featuring an evolving installation by Mike Russek, Augustine Kofie, John Carr, Favianna Rodriguez and Yuri Shimojo.
The exhibition will run from January 15 to February 19, 2011. The first of four receptions for the artists will be held on Saturday January 22, from 6-9 pm.
The concept of Edifice Cache is based on the idea of Exquisite Corpse whereby a work of art is created through the collaboration of a group of artists who will add their work to components of -in this case- a single installation in sequence. Mike Russek, an L.A.
based artist and designer will provide the basis in the form of an evolving installation. The components of this installation will be revealed to the artists to create their part.
As the artists work on creating the installation -the Edifice- their processes will be recorded on camera and will be on display as the memory component -Cache- of the exhibit.
Starting on January 15, 2011 the public is invited to come and watch artists at work during gallery’s business hours. At the end of each week on the corresponding Saturday there will be a reception for the finishing team and the following component will be in place for the next team.
Edifice Cache will be created from January 18 - February 19, 2011
